Myagdi Communicity Development Program (CDP)

From Nov 2016, SANGAM has been implementing Community Development project [CDP] with the technical and financial support of Good Neighbors International [GNI] Nepal. GNI is one of the humanitarian nonprofits INGO established in 1991 in Korea. The main slogan of GNI is “Good change for the world” and working in Nepal since 2002 with the objectives of improving lives of poor people, especially children through education, income generating activities, health services, child protection, DRR, advocacy and network building.

CDP Myagdi has been covered 5 existing VDCs (5 wards of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality) which are very remote and backwards in human development index (HDI). Program has been covered 19 schools, 1165sponsor children and their households, 3 cooperatives, poor of the poorest people of community. We, from SANGAM, especially lunching education and livelihood related activities directly as well as through cooperative. We mainly focused on quality education of children and livelihood of community people improving physical facilities of school, trainings, extracurricular activities, incoming generating activities, grant, revolving fund etc.

 Activities from Nov 2016 to March 2017.

A. Education

  1. Distribution stationary, school uniform, School Bag & Shoes:CDP covered 19 community schools in catchment area. In those schools,1165 children are benefitted from sponsorship program. 1156 sponsor children were received educational materials like stationary, uniform, bag and shoes for students. Among them 530 are boys and 626 are girls.
  2. Classroom management and teaching materials preparation training:This training was organized for the school teachers and the main objective of this training was to improve the learning environment of classroom and preparing the teaching materials. Head sir or representatives of 14 schools were participated in training.
  3. Orientation training for SMC/PTA:The main purpose of this orientation training was to orient the chairperson of SMC / PTA about school management, right, duties and responsibilities as well as new act/ law about SMC/PTA. Chairpersons or representatives of SMC/PTA from 9 schools were participated in this training.
  4. Support to establishment of Computer Lab:The main purpose of this activity was to encourage the school for computer education / literacy for students and help to reduce digital divide in rural area. 3 schools ( Dhanajanata Secondary School, Lamsung secondary School and Chandra Jyoti Secondary School) are received this support. We have supported 4 computers and single printer for each school.
  5. ECED furniture and furnishing Support:The main purpose of this activity was to develop the suitable learning environment in early child development learning center. Within the reporting time, we have supported Furniture and Furnishing for 4 ECED Center (Khoriya LS, Chnandrajyoti SS, Lulang LS & Janabikas LS).
  6. Science Lab equipment support:The main objective of this activity was to establish the science lab in school for quality education (focused to practical education). 2 schools (Janabikas Secondary School – Marang and Lamsung Secondary School - Lamsung ) were received different types of  lab materials from program.
  7. Book Rack and book support for Library establishment:The main purpose of this activity was to develop the teaching / learning environment in school. To develop the reading habit extra book (long life education, references books, story, poem, novel, GK etc). Buddi Bikas Secondary School has been received books rack and few numbers of books from the project.
  8. Support for extracurricular activities: All the 19 schools of catchment area were received few sports materials such as volleyball, badminton, ring, skipping rope etc.
  9. Support for school building maintenance:A good classroom having child friendly environment inspires the students to learn and foster their innate capacity. So we provided our support to maintenance school building for Chechung Primary School which was narrow and old.

B. Livelihood.

  1. Entrepreneurship development training has completed 20 potential MEs (1 Male 19 Female ware benefited.
  2. Account keeping refresher training has completed, 10 Cooperative manager and chairperson (5 Male and 5 Female) have benefited.
  3. Seasonal and off seasonal vegetable cultivation training has completed, 20 (5 Male and 15 Female) Participants has benefited.
  4. Home stay management refresher training has completed 21(9 Male and 12 Female) entrepreneurs has benefited.
  5. Human resource support program has completed,3 existing cooperative has benefited.
  6. Revolving fund and grant support program has completed 20 vegetable and home stay MEs (5 Female and 15 Male) has benefited.
  7. Cooperative software installation training has completed cooperative's managers (2 Male and 1 Female) has benefited.
  8. Revolving fund support through cooperatives program has completed, 3 cooperatives and all total 70 selected MEs will be benefited.

   9. One event Community development fund (CDF) model through Munal agriculture cooperative LTD orientation program has completed and Munal agriculture cooperative have accept this model.
